Our Community Service

“‘For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me; I was in prison and you visited me.’ "

"Service is in our DNA"

Ministry and community service is a cornerstone of Alpha Iota Alpha.

We put faith into action by serving our communities through various

initiatives and programs that make a tangible difference in the lives

of the individuals and families we serve.

Annual Teen Mom Giveaway - 2025

Each year, Sorors come together to bless teen moms in a tangible way that shows them that they are seen and loved and that they have an extension of their support system in the ladies of AIA. This year, we served them through pampering while looking after their kids.

Annual Homeless Clothing Drive - 2025

Sorors spend the entire day organizing and staging the space in the locations selected so we can serve the men and women currently experiencing homelessness, giving away clothing, shoes, coats, jackets, blankets, home goods, and food.

Annual Homeless Clothing Drive - 2024

Annual Fresh Start Hair Blitz - 2024

The sorors come together to bless students with free hairstyles, haircuts, manicures, grooming kits, school supplies, snacks, and drinks during the event.

Serving our community is truly in our DNA.

From our annual Fresh Start Hair Blitz homeless and Homeless Drive, assisting our local food banks, and volunteering at The Blessing Board throughout each year to partnering with the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (serving inpatient families, providing care kits, food, etc.), visiting and working with the veterans and staff at Southwestern Veterans Center (SWVC), and inspiring school children at Cornerstone Christian Preparatory School, serving our communities and making an impact is part of the foundation of our sisterhood and an integral part of our organization.

We also serve the vulnerable youth within our communities through the tangible support of teen mothers, children with incarcerated parents, as well as children in foster care.
